Hey, my name is Josh, a 2nd-year Architecture student and an active Pokesoc member for most of my time at UCL. Through attending events, I’ve seen a wide variety of people accommodated for, whether it’s specific interests within the Pokemon Franchise such as TCG, Pokemon Go, or Draft League, or through general community social activities such as our karaoke social, baking society collab, or even just our chill socials providing a welcoming space for people to gather, and I would love to lend a hand in continuing to foster this friendly environment that I myself have experienced through helping organise events.
My previous role as a Student Assistant Mentor for Open City Accelerate (a charity-run architecture skills workshop programme for sixth-form students from underrepresented backgrounds in the industry) means I am no stranger to helping run events, and I've previously organised a tour of a case-study building and tenant + property developer interviews for my course’s Professional Practice module, demonstrating my experience in inter-organisational communication.
I wouldn’t have expected being randomly gifted a DS and Pokemon White when I was 6 years old would lead to me finding such a lovely community of people that I am lucky to call my friends in university, but I’m so glad it happened, and I would be honoured to be your Events Officer next year! :)
Hello! I’m Howie, your current Social Secretary, a second year Chemistry student and this year I’ll be running for Events Officer. This year I've had the most fun as a member of UCL Pokémon Society committee, that I've decided to do it all over again but switch things up a bit!
I've been a member of the society since joining in September 2024 and have shown up to almost every event within the last 1 and a half years. It's given me the opportunity of interacting with so many people from different backgrounds, whom I now consider my dear friends, and let me to provide them with events that have brought them comfort and a good break away from work while with this year's committee. If elected, I will commit(tee) to providing new ideas for potential socials, helping out with event preparation and communicating with other societies for collabs.
I hope you consider me as the right person for the job!
And yes, that is still my recorder.
