Physics Society: Career & Sponsorship Officer

I am running for Career and Sponsorship Officer because I would like to help physics students gain greater awareness of the wide range of career paths available to them and strengthen the society’s connections with industry.

Personally, I find it would be really helpful to have more events and talks that helps us to navigate the ever challenging career paths. As I am extremely confused about what I would like to do in the future despite my love for physics and I believe many may feel the same like me and would definitely benefits from events and strengthened connections with industries. 

If elected, I would focus on organising career talks and panel events with professionals from a variety of sectors such as finance, technology, engineering, and research. These events would aim to give students clearer insight into how physics graduates apply their knowledge in real-world careers and what pathways are available after university.

Alongside this, I would actively work to build relationships with companies and professionals who may be interested in collaborating with the society. By developing these connections, I hope to create opportunities for sponsorship as well as career-oriented events that benefit members of the society.

Overall, my goal would be to help students build stronger industry awareness while also supporting the society through external partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.

I’m Taka, second year physics interested in high energy theory.

This year I served as the 600+ member UCL Japan Society’s career officer, running 10+ career events with the largest having over 100 participants. I was the communication point between companies such as Bain, Japanese Government Ministries, Blackstone and the society. As the Career and Sponsorship Officer for Physics Society, I will bring that experience and the same commitment to expand the opportunities available as well as help bring more insight to pathways for summer positions and graduate roles from industry to academia. I hope to see all of you next year!
