Bella Duquemin

As development secretary and 5s captain, I feel as though I have been able to understand both sides of the club this year and I have seen how important Welfare is for every member of the club. University can be so intense and balancing personal life, uni work, training, matches and socials is not always easy. One thing I really like about UCL netball is the supportive and inclusive environment of the club. I would love to continue and improve this environment by being an approachable person that you can talk to if needed. I would be keen to help with trials as I understand this can be such a stressful time for so many of us. As well as this I would love to introduce more non drinking, non Wednesday night socials to really bond as a club. UCNC has been such a big part of my university experience and everyone has helped to make me feel really valued and included. I would love to have the opportunity to help other people feel this way and foster a safe and fun environment for every member of UCNC whether it be competitive players, social players or netball social and Scala lovers!

Since joining social netball in September, I have found that the club has positively contributed so much to my university experience. I have met almost all of my closest friends in netball and have found so much enjoyment in attending the weekly socials. I find UCNC to be an extremely welcoming and fun society where everyone can find their people and feel included. It is important to me that everybody has the same positive experience I have had of netball and I would love to contribute to the club as welfare officer. It would be my utmost priority that everybody feels included and has a shoulder to lean on at all times. Additionally, I would prioritise taking care of members’ mental health as they go through the trials and tribulations of university by carrying out welfare checks and possibly hosting welfare events.

Hi, I’m Rawan, and I’m running to be your welfare sec because I’m passionate about ensuring everyone feels supported and heard during their time in RUMS Netball.

As a second-year Psychology student with experience in running the Active Bystander Workshops for the SU and peer mentoring, I hope to use my experiences to kickstart new welfare initiatives, such as an anonymous suggestion box where members can address any of their concerns, as I understand how imperative being receptive to feedback is to committee and non-committee members alike. I would also like to introduce weekly peer drop-in group sessions targeted towards first years to help them settle into university life, as I believe opportunities like this make being a fresher so much more enjoyable.

I am committed to weaving aspects of welfare into the social life of RUMS by introducing more welfare-oriented socials which are accessible to everyone, such as girlie yoga, fun runs, baking and trampoline parks, etc, so everyone can unwind in a wholesome way. However, if you cannot attend these socials, no fear, as I also plan on making welfare packs offering guidance on mental health management and resources etc which members can refer back to.

Whether it’s going for a chill coffee with you or making sure you get home safe after a heavy sports night, I would love to be a part of the club’s support system and create an inclusive space where everyone is valued.
