Netball Club: Social Secretary

Hi guys, I'm venetia and me and anna would love to be your next netball social secs!

UCNC has meant so much to my first year, its the place where I've met some of my closest friends and I would be honoured to lead the social aspect of the club.

As a very outgoing person, I believe I could bring an innovative aspect to our socials, prioritising more integration in the club through all the years. We want to make the socials a fun, silly and most importantly a safe environment for all girls to have a great night.

Our priority will be encouraging maximum participation, and keeping the club as an open space for all people to enjoy our social opportunities, not to mention introducing the club to other societies so we can improve everyones social experience at UCL!

Firstly, I would like to thank our previous Social Secretaries for the incredible standard they have set. I am truly grateful for the effort, energy and kindness they have shown this year, and I would not be applying without the example they have provided.

I am running for Social Secretary because I genuinely care about creating a positive and welcoming environment within UCL Netball. I pride myself on being approachable and authentic, and I naturally aim to create spaces where everyone feels comfortable being themselves. Netball is not just about performance; it is about community, and I would love to strengthen that sense of belonging within our club.

I have strong organisational and time-management skills, balancing academic work alongside extracurricular commitments. I am proactive in communicating, coordinating with venues and committee members, and ensuring plans run smoothly. I am reliable and committed to keeping everyone informed.

I would bring creativity through engaging and inclusive socials, while valuing collaboration and listening to members’ feedback. By identifying common themes, whether financial or social, I would ensure our events are enjoyable and accessible for everyone. I can take feedback and utilise it proactively in further socials by considering concerns raised.

Overall, I would bring enthusiasm, reliability and a genuine commitment to the club, creating a space where people feel heard but make fun memories in a space of weird, fun wonderfulness!

I am standing for social sec as, although I may not know what a tactical centre pass is, the club has been a huge part of my life this year. Being part of netball and attending socials has been a highlight of university life for me. I’ve necked countless bottles of prosecco (without judgement), built so many unbreakable friendships, taken a million photos, laughed until I've cried and even been blessed with multiple people chunning on me. It is very special to be a part of such an exciting, inclusive and benevolent club. 

If I am fortuned to be social sec I have 3 main intentions:

1. Inclusivity, I want to make everyone feel as welcome and involved as I have been made to feel this year.
2. Creativity, lots of games, fun themes and joint socials.
3. Minds gone blank but it's great things.

Since joining UCL, the social aspect of UCNC has allowed me to meet so many new people, and I hope to continue this atmosphere next year.

We have so many ideas for making socials at UCL better than ever before, focusing on creating unbreakable relationships between the amazing girls of UCNC.

We want to create an environment where everyone feels part of the club and will always have a fun night out. We will have new and exciting socials each week with varied themes and locations, expecting the silliest costumes and new activities to make everyone enjoy their time at UCL even more.
