Sophie Osude

Hi everyone! I’m Sophie and I would love to be your next UCNC President.

Since joining UCL, netball has been the highlight of my university experience. From day one, UCNC has been a welcoming, supportive and fun community, with the club shaping my time here in the best possible way. This is why I would be so proud to give back by leading it.

As someone who is charismatic, motivated and truly passionate about UCNC, I believe I can bring strong and positive leadership to this role. Through captaining sports teams and holding key leadership positions in the past, I’ve developed the confidence, organisation and teamwork skills needed to support both our committee and our members. I know how important it is to lead by example, to listen and to create an environment where everyone feels valued.

If elected, my priority would be to protect and strengthen the incredible atmosphere that makes UCNC so special. I want to ensure we continue to balance competitiveness with inclusivity by encouraging participation from everyone, whether you’ve played netball before or you’re picking up a ball for the first time.

Most importantly, I want every member to feel supported, motivated and proud to wear the UCNC kit.

Thank you and I would be so grateful for your vote!💜

As your next president, I want to continue building the amazing community that is UCL Netball. The committee has been incredible this year, and I hope to build on their contributions to the club. My main goals for next year are to encourage greater fixture and training attendance whilst creating a friendly and accessible community for any newcomers to the club. My experience as co-captain this year (alongside playing for the 4s and 5s) has given me the opportunity to lead a netball team and involve myself throughout the club. These experiences have equipped me with the skills required to lead this fantastic society.

My proposal for a new trial process would mean that everyone (including newcomers) would only need to attend two trials rather than three. This will be achieved by creating two separate initial trials: one for the 1-3s and one for the 4-7s. All players who are successful in the first round would then attend the final trial. I also plan to increase the frequency of themed training sessions to provide opportunities to work with our sponsors and promote our chosen charity. Finally, I plan to arrange more team-bonding events at the beginning of term to help the captains build strong team connections before matches and training sessions begin.

I’d also like to add that I absolutely love this club and, if elected, I will dedicate myself fully to continuing its success.

I am standing for President because this club has had such a positive impact on my university experience, and I would love to give back to a society that has given me so much. Through netball, I have built lasting friendships and become part of a fun and driven community that I am incredibly proud to represent. I believe my journey through the club has given me a broad perspective, which would benefit me in this role. I began in Social and TeamUCL netball before joining the 6s halfway through the season. The committee's organisation and communication made this transition seamless, showing me how vital leadership and effective administration are in shaping experiences. Having experienced both social and competitive netball, I understand the importance of balancing performance, enjoyment and inclusivity across the club. As President, I would take seriously the responsibility of ensuring that the club operates within its constitution and runs smoothly throughout the year. I would act as a reliable link between members and the Union, ensuring all voices are heard. I understand the responsibility that comes with overseeing activities, supporting committee members and working closely with the Treasurer on financial matters. I am organised, approachable and dedicated to maintaining the positive, vibrant atmosphere that defines our netball club. It would be a privilege to represent such an incredible group and continue building an environment where every member is able to thrive.
