Applying to be Development Secretary for UCL Netball combines my passion for sport with my drive to create opportunities for others. UCNC has a strong reputation for performance and inclusivity, and I want to play an active role in strengthening both.
Netball has given me confidence, resilience, and a sense of community. I want other members—especially beginners and those new to university sport—to experience the same. As Development Secretary, I would focus on expanding participation pathways, supporting skill progression, and ensuring clear communication between players, coaches, and committee members.
I am particularly motivated to improve accessibility and retention. This could include organising structured development sessions, workshops tailored to different ability levels, and feedback systems so members feel heard and supported. I would also explore collaborations with other clubs and outreach initiatives to grow engagement and visibility.
I bring strong organisational skills, reliability, and enthusiasm. I am comfortable coordinating events, managing logistics, and working as part of a team towards shared goals. Most importantly, I care about fostering a positive, encouraging environment where every member feels valued.
This role appeals to me because it is both strategic and people-focused. I would be proud to contribute to the continued growth of UCL Netball, helping it remain competitive while prioritising development, wellbeing, and community.
I’d like to run for dev sec as I want to be able to support all netball players no matter their experience. As someone who’s grown up playing netball and loves the sport, I know how social netball is a space to play, improve and have fun. It gives everyone a chance to feel part of UCL netball and grow in confidence. I think I’d make a good dev sec with experience in helping train and umpire matches.
I am standing for Development Secretary because I really value and enjoy the social and supportive side of netball in being able to grow as a person and a player, amongst your friends in a laid-back environment. As a 5s player, I have really enjoyed the relaxed, positive and totally un-adversarial environment and culture that we have developed as a team, which has made me appreciate the social side of netball the most this season. This makes me want to run for this role as I know I would genuinely enjoy giving others the chance to get out of netball what I enjoyed the most this year. Furthermore, I am a strong believer in the importance of exercise for everyone's mental and physical well-being, and as someone who gets bored of going on runs and going to the gym, I think that team sport is the best way to actually enjoy yourself whilst staying active. Therefore I think I would be suited to this role as I would ensure to make social netball inclusive and welcoming to players of all experience and abilities. Additionally, I enjoy and have experience in supporting others to improve and learn new things. During school, I would tutor students as well as help run after-school netball sessions, which I enjoyed as I found it very rewarding to contribute towards the confidence and well-being of others, whilst simultaneously building a relationship with them. Overall, I would love to do this role as I would enjoy creating a relaxed and laid-back environment, where everyone can have fun.
