Salam girls!
I would like to put myself forward for the role of Welfare Officer for MCS.
MCS beautifully brings together two powerful parts of our identity, our faith and our ambition. From competitive applications to navigating professional spaces, it proves that Muslim women do not have to choose between deen and dunya - we can pursue excellence in both.
Yet behind achievements can lie rejection, comparison, imposter syndrome and the quiet pressure to always appear accomplished. Having faced the hidden pressures behind applications and expectations, I am committed to fostering wellbeing, inclusivity and stronger bonds of sisterhood. Welfare, to me, is about empowering muslim sisterhood that can make these pressures lighter. Success feels more meaningful when celebrated together, and setbacks feel less isolating when carried collectively.
If elected, I would:
- Create regular social events and drop-in sessions to include all sisters, fostering connection.
- Encourage quieter members to contribute with confidence
- Introduce structured sister circles to discuss rejection, self-doubt and balancing ambition with faith
- Create anonymous wellbeing feedback channels
- Develop peer mentorship across year groups
- Celebrate effort, resilience, and growth alongside achievement
I want MCS to remain a space where ambition is sustained by compassion and where no sister navigates challenges alone. Ultimately, my intention is to nurture a community where faith, wellbeing and sisterhood grow side by side.
