Numa Ahmed

I am applying to be President because I am deeply invested in the MCS and its values. Applying for internships, jobs within competitive industries and trying to figure out where we fit in the professional world sometimes feels overwhelming and unwelcoming. I want to build this society further as a space where sisters feel supported and are reminded that success and eman are compatible.

Why you should vote for me:

  • Outside of university, I teach girls at my local masjid, and that experience has taught me a lot about leadership.
  • It has exposed me to the responsibility of creating a comfortable environment for growth.
  •  Experience of connecting with the current leadership team as an ambassador compells me to want to contribute more to its growth.

If I were elected President, my goals would be to...

  • Organise more guest speaker events with Muslim women from different industries so members can hear honest insights about building their careers and being proudly Muslim
  • Highlight existing schemes from industries targeted at minorities, which will enable us to overcome the perceived barriers of having a professional career as BAME Muslim women.
  • Build strong sisterhood through relaxed socials (like pizza, craft and sports events, etc) where we can foster meaningful friendships.

I hope do my best to represent the MCS, work closely with the committee and create a space where we can be more self-assured when pursuing our career goals whilst strengthening our eman. May Allah accept all our efforts.

As current president of UCL Muslimah Careers Society; I’m aware of what’s needed for the society to flourish:

  • Ensuring we have a dedicated space for young career-driven Muslim women to bridge the gap between university and the workforce.
  • Encourage communal events to foster sisterhood.
  • Create a safe space for Muslim women to express their concerns in the workplace.

    Thank you💕
