Musical Theatre Society: Technical Officer

Hi, I'm Gabi - Geography second year and props-obsessed prod member. You'll have seen me on Sister Act, Spamalot, and Little Shop of Horrors through MT, and many more shows (10+) via Stage Crew across the Blooms', the Studio, and Externals.

Across the two societies, I understand a) the tech and standards of UCL's spaces and b) how tech can be incorporated into shows to achieve their full potential, and will use this knowledge to guide shows on how to use spaces to the max.

I'm proud of how MT has worked to keep a relationship with Stage Crew and theatre technicians this year, and I'd love to be a channel of communication as I know communication between Stage Crew and production teams makes putting on a show one-thousand times easier.

I've battled with the range and hunted for storage for MT’s gear around UCL. I'd hence like to sort this storage problem which frequently costs shows hundreds, if not thousands of pounds due to duplicate purchasing and hiring of gear across multiple shows since things can't be stored and re-used, meaning budget can't be redirected to other creative endeavours, limiting the scope of what we can do.

I'd like to find new ways to use our storage spaces as a solution, as well as looking for new ones. 

It's been a pleasure to get my teeth stuck into MT this year - the talent across cast, prod, band, and directorial teams is next level. I'd love to continue being a part of it and bring my experience to the table so shows can do more than ever before.
