Hi, I’m Minahil and I would love to be your social secretary for this upcoming year!
For the past few months I have been involved in my role as a designer for the annual fashion show, this has deepened my love for MODO as it has given me a space to experiment and be creative in a way that feels supported. Additionally, being involved in the Halloween Photoshoot gave me the opportunity to take part in a great social event that reinforced the sense of community that the MODO has and was a relaxed chance for me to model for the first time!
Having been a part of MUN for 8 years and now directing debates, I have developed strong communication and leadership skills that I know will show in this role. I have through this experience helped organise an International Conference trip based on what other students wanted. I have also co-organised a community day event for families which attracted over 100 attendees, using social media to market the event.
As social secretary I would make sure that members have a choice in what they would like. I would organise more themed photoshoots such as having a decades theme and seasonal shoots that everyone will be able to participate in. Moreover, having themed socials that would range from a themed costume night, thrifting trips, watching fashion films, organising balls, and also networking opportunities with figures in the industry. By voting for me, I will ensure that everyone has an unforgettable time in MODO and feel incredibly welcomed!
Hey! I’m Alisha Jefri, and I am currently in my first year, studying a BA in Early Childhood Education (as in I will teach babies, and yes, this is a real course at UCL #niche). A little about me is that I’m really into film, reading, taking photos, and, of course, clothes.
During my first year, I was privileged enough to be a Marketing Exec and then took over Co-Lead of Marketing for MODO. Joining the committee was one of the best decisions I’d made as a fresher, as I was able to befriend so many amazingly talented and cool people in the committee and in the society, who I’ve been able to learn so much from. I adore the MODO community, and as your potential social secretary, I would want to ensure that every fresher next year and returning members feel included and cared for and, of course, have the most fun possible; just as I experienced this year.
One of the main reasons I’m running for social secretary is that, above all else, I’m happiest when I’m around people. I love to chat forever, I love meeting new people, I love it all! Additionally, and maybe most notably, I love a function. I have ideas of having more dress-themed socials with more activities and games to encourage making new friends in the society. But I would also love to take the socials as a time to communicate with the society members and hear what kind of socials you want to see!
Thank you for taking the time to read my reasons for running, and I hope I have your vote!
