As a member of MedTech Society, I have seen how valuable it is for students to hear directly from people working at the forefront of healthcare innovation. Through a recent internship exploring the intersection of AI, genomics and law, I also gained experience communicating across disciplines and engaging with professionals from different sectors. This made me realise how important it is to connect students with the people and organisations driving innovation in healthcare.
MedTech is a rapidly growing area of healthcare, and strong connections between students and industry are increasingly important. As Corporate Relations Officer, I would work to help strengthen MedTech Society’s relationships with companies, startups and professionals across healthcare technology.
In this role, I would focus on:
• Reaching out to MedTech companies, digital health startups and innovation organisations to build meaningful partnerships, and explore ways they can engage with students through collaborations
• Connecting society events with relevant speakers, organisations and potential sponsors
• Representing MedTech Society professionally when communicating with industry partners
My experience as a consultant and former engagement manager at London Strategic Consulting (LSC), has allowed me to develop strong experience in external outreach and partnership development. During my time as engagement manager, I increased LSC's partnerships and client acquisition, and liased with other university societies to secure partnerships for large-scale events. For UCL's Medtech society, I look forward to applying my strategic and structured approach to build relationships with healthcare firms and industry leaders. I aim to secure long-term sponsorships, speaker events, internship pipelines and unique opportunities that genuinely benefit members.
Having been the Director and Welfare Manager of a volunteer project previously, I worked with a team to organise fund-raising events, liase with partner organisations and expand volunteer networks. This experience has taught me how to communicate with professionals and maintain client relationships, allowing me to bring my expertise and strategic thinking to the Medtech society in order to strengthen its external presence and industry credibility, while also securing meaningful partnerships that enhance students experiences.
Hi, I’m Puneet, a second-year Biomedical Sciences student and I’m running for the role of Corporate Relations Officer as I would like to support the society’s continued growth and its impact on students hoping to gain insight into the MedTech industry.
Through attending the society’s Python and MATLAB classes, as well as several company talks, I have seen how valuable these opportunities are in helping students build practical skills and gain real exposure to the MedTech and biotech industries. In high school, I also served as the Public Relations Officer, where I was responsible for reaching out and communicating with external contacts. This experience helped me develop confidence in communication and relationship-building which are skills I believe would translate well to engaging with industry partners on a larger scale.
As Corporate Relations Officer, I would aim to build strong relationships with companies and expand opportunities for industry engagement such as company talks and networking events that allow members to connect directly with professionals in the field.
I would be excited to contribute to this society by helping to create more opportunities for students to explore careers and innovations in MedTech!
