Jamie Wang

I have been playing mahjong since I was young and have always enjoyed the game. I would love the opportunity to contribute to the society as Equipment Officer and help make sure our equipment is organised and ready for everyone to use during events.

Pui Pui Ho

Just like a house of cards depends on every single piece, a Mahjong set relies on every tile, if even one is missing, the whole game cannot be played. That is why equipment management truly matters.

Hello everyone, I am Pui Pui, and I’m running to be your next Equipment Officer for the Mahjong Society. Over the past year, I’ve developed a strong appreciation not only for the different variations of Mahjong, but also for the strategy and culture behind each style. Through our weekly sessions, I’ve seen how much smooth organisation contributes to everyone’s overall experience. Well-maintained and properly organised equipment is essential to creating an enjoyable and stress-free environment for all members.

Beyond Hong Kong Style, I also enjoy Japanese Mahjong, and I understand that different rulesets require different setups and equipment considerations. I believe our society would benefit from having a wider range of tile sets and configurations to better support members who wish to explore styles beyond the most widely played Hong Kong format.

In the coming year, I aim not only to maintain and organise the existing equipment, but also to ensure our resources can accommodate multiple styles of play effectively.

As a backstage crew member, I have developed strong organisational skills and a solid understanding of preparation and setup work. I am confident that I can ensure each session runs smoothly so that everyone can focus on enjoying the game.

Yijing Liu

My name is Liu Yijing (Lucas), and I am a Pharmacy student at UCL. This is my second year in the Mahjong Society.

Since I joined in September in 2025, I have attended every single event. Mahjong is not just a game to me – I truly love it, and this society has become like a second home. The committee members have always been kind and supportive, and that has made me even more determined to give back to our community.

I am running for Equipment Officer because I care deeply about everyone’s experience. To me, mahjong sets and equipment are like part of the team. I want to make sure everyone can play comfortably, smoothly, and happily.

If elected, I will:

• Keep detailed records of equipment usage

• Regularly check and maintain all mahjong sets, tables, and other supplies

• Communicate closely with the President about needs and improvements

• Propose and manage equipment updates when necessary

• Make sure events run reliably and without equipment issues

I may be a relatively new face to some, but I am responsible, hard-working, and fully committed. I will put in the time and effort to deserve your trust.

Please support me – Lucas, your Equipment Officer candidate!
Thank you.
