Hey everyone, I’m Kyan and I’m running for Engagement Officer for next year’s Mahjong Society. Despite only beginning to play Mahjong a couple years back, joining UCL Mahjong Society for these two years has enabled me to develop and hone my passion for the tiles and make many new friends.
A big part of my experience so far has also been spreading the love for mahjong to others. I particularly enjoy teaching new players, constantly finding new ways to convey higher-level concepts to accelerate their progression, and their fun! As engagement officer, I hope to broaden this on a wider scale, appealing to both new and more experienced players.
To achieve this, I propose gathering feedback from regular members to improve our sessions and to refresh new ideas for the committee to adopt. I would also like to help create a consolidated document of rules for the various mahjong styles, making it more accessible and less daunting to pick up from scratch. Finally, I hope to hold more fun competitions and potentially invite other societies to partake in them, allowing for a wider player base and thrilling mahjong rounds!
Overall, I will try to make you love mahjong as much as I do, hopefully you will vote for me!
Being a member of the Mahjong society, I would like to step out further and run for Engagement officer. I believe my experiences in leadership roles, with my determined work ethic and open mindset, would bring a positive influence to the Mahjong Society. Having a wide connection within the Hong Kong community, I will try my best to enhance social connection during Mahjong socials, attract more UCL students and freshers to play Mahjong, no matter whether they are intermediate or expert players.
If I am elected as Engagement officer, I will
- Ensure snacks and drinks will be provided throughout regular socials
- Ensure canton pop musics will be played during regular socials
- Try my best to take actions on all the opinions raised throughout the academic year
Please vote for me, Christy Law as your Engagement Officer!
