Really enjoy participating in magic society's sessions and I am not throwing away my shot!🎶 Wish to collaborate with fellow members and hopefully bring everyone unforgettable experiences through events :)
I am standing for the position of Welfare Officer for the Magic Society. Although I was not able to attend every weekly session this year. However, I made sure myself to be present at the major events organised by the society. During these events, I find that i really enjoyed interacting with the members and helping newer members practise some of the magic tricks taught during sessions.
I believe the Welfare Officer plays an important role in making sure that members are feel comfortable, included, and supported, especially for those who are new to magic or joining the society for the first time.
In addition, I currently serve as the Events Executive in the Population Health Sciences Society, where I have gained experience in organising activities and working with committee members. I believe the skills and experience I gained over the past year will help me contribute effectively as Welfare Officer.
If im being elected, I will listen to more about members’ ideas and feedback, support new members in getting involved with the society, and help create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere in our sessions and events so that everyone feels comfortable to learning and practising magic together.
Hi everyone! I'm Zirui Zhou, currently a second-year Biochemistry student. I’m nominating myself for the position of Welfare Officer of the Magic Society.
I joined the society at the beginning of Year 1 and have loved the friendly and supportive atmosphere ever since. Over the past year, I have regularly participated in Magic Society sessions and activities, and I also volunteered in the Out of Sight show. Through these experiences, along with my leadership roles as a Transition Mentor and Student Representative in my course, I’ve gained a good understanding of how the society functions and developed transferable skills in supporting members and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
I am a helpful and considerate person who naturally pays attention to others’ wellbeing and enjoys creating spaces where everyone feels valued and comfortable. As Welfare Officer, I aim to support all members, ensure everyone feels heard, and make the society a safe and supportive space where you can learn and perform magic, build connections with others, and balance your studies with fun activities.
