Actually, what on earth should I write here?
Uhh, hi I'm Marvin? If you come on Friday, you probably know me, but if not, you probably also saw me perform during the winter trivia show, brainwashing you about the bible and disloyal men in relationships. If you weren't there as well then I guess too bad.
It tells me to write why am I standing? I tried to put my CV into ChatGPT and generate this thing, but then realised my CV has nothing to do with magic. I guess I have been doing magic for two years now? Not the best at it but I really like learning and performing to my friends and I'll try my best?
Oh but the main reason is cuz being in the committee gets you performance opportunities to get paid handsomely by UCL, I won't turn down money 🫶.

Hi!! I'm Julia and I'm a first year running for treasurer.
Magic Society has made my experience at UCL so fun, so I'd love the chance to take on a bigger role in the committee so that I can help make the society even better for everyone- whether that's through more socials or just ensuring that things run smoother behind the scenes.
I'm very proactive when it comes to planning, so I'm used to dealing with third party communication and booking venues. I'm also not reluctant to chase things (or people) up when needed.
For the upcoming academic year, I'd love to see us run more socials and meet-ups outside of the regular Magic sessions, to build a closer, more connected community. As treasurer, I would work closely with the Events Officer to make this happen by planning ahead, allocating budget effectively, and making sure that we have the resources to host frequent and accessible gatherings for everyone.

The Magic society is very special to me, and I am committed to take on greater responsibility to help it thrive and develop to its fullest potential. As the founder and president of another society this year, I have developed the required organisational and leadership skills, including managing finance, strategic planning and quick decision making. Although I am not a magician, I think that it is an advantage that allows me to approach the role with objectivity and a clear focus on financial supervision.
As treasurer, I will ensure our funds are managed responsibly and transparently to ensure every decision strengthens our society and benefits our members.
As the current President of the Magic Society, I have developed a strong understanding of how the society operates, from event planning to coordinating with members and the committee. And through working closely with our current Treasurer, Jennifer, I have become familiar with the responsibilities involved in managing budgets, tracking expenses, and communicating with the Student Union. I'm switching roles since my coursework will be more time consuming next year, and I may not be able to attend every session in person, but I am committed to support the society behind the scenes, and I believe I'll live up to the role.
