Live Music Society: Welfare Officer

hey guys, i’m motsy !!🥰

i’m a 2nd year law student & mostly sing in lm, and i’m running for welfare officer🤍

as many of us, i came to uni knowing no one, and lm is honestly where i’ve met some of my closest friends. because of that, i really care about making sure this society continues to feel like a space where everyone feels welcome and supported. 

i know lm can seem intimidating at first, especially for freshers, or if you don’t play any instruments or sing, but i really want to reinforce that this society is for all kinds of music-enjoyers !!

through doing scheduling for rhaps this year (🥲💔), i ended up speaking to so many members and i realised how much i genuinely enjoy being someone people can come to. i tried to make sure everyone felt accommodated and included, and that’s smth i’d love to continue as welfare officer. 

i want to be someone you feel comfortable approaching, and i’ll always be around at events or easy to contact whenever !! i also want to be mindful that not everyone experiences socials the same way, whether it’s nerves things like sensory issues. so i’d try my best to make keep lm fun and inclusive for everyone🌟🌟

Hi I’m Suri! I’m running for Welfare Officer because every society needs someone whose main priority is making sure everyone is doing okay and that the vibes stay good. Rehearsals, gigs, deadlines, balancing uni, and life in general can get stressful sometimes, and I want to help make sure the society stays a place where music is actually fun and not just stressing you out even more.

I’d say I’m a pretty easy person to talk to, and I'm ALWAYS here if you need someone to talk to about literally anything - whether that’s band stress, uni stress, life stress, or just needing to rant for five minutes before rehearsal. I love love love listening (and yapping), so I’m always down for a chat ANYTIME. 

I also know how nerve-wracking things like auditions and performances can feel. I helped with welfare during auditions, so I already have some experience making sure people feel comfortable during what can be a pretty scary process - which TRUST ME, I relate to.

I’ll be the person checking in on people, making sure no one feels left out, and generally keeping things supportive and comfortable. I will also absolutely be baking sweet treats to bring and share. I make insane cookies and banana bread btw;)

Overall I just want the society to feel like a place people genuinely enjoy being. Also, voting for me basically guarantees more snacks at rehearsals, which I would say is a pretty strong point.
