Since my first week at university I've been an active member of LM, performing in LM gigs and shows. I am running for president as I believe I have experience in a variety of aspects of Live Music Society, and I am committed to ensure the society improves and maintains activities.
I have been an active committee member, with this year being the first that House band have offered socials, and with more House band gigs being organised than most years. We have also pushed to make sure collabs with other societies happen and that HB gets to perform in them (e.g., the dancing le rock gig and the artsucl mega social).
Priorities for me if I were to be elected would be:
A) Standardised forms to support prod teams doing shows. A lot of the forms that prod teams need to make in shows are the same (i.e., auditions and interview forms), so having templates would help prod teams out!
B) Sort out the SPR - more accountability on damage and proactive purchases (I.e., have spare skins ready in storage for when breaks occur).
C) Socials need to happen throughout the year, not once or twice a term to make sure there is a stronger community in LM outside of just shows.
Hi everyone! I’m Sally, the current LM Treasurer and a singer who’s been part of LM for the past 2 years, and I’d love to be your next LM President :)
2 reasons why you should vote for me!
- I’ve worked closely with the President this year, and much of my role already overlaps with the President’s responsibilities. I’ve been a point of contact for external booking enquiries, liaised with ArtsUCL, bidding for Rhaps theatre slot, managed finances, and helped oversee many of our core society activities. Because of this, I have a strong understanding of how the different parts of LM operate
- I want to make LM even more welcoming and less daunting for people who may have never stepped on stage before. LM should be a place where anyone who loves music feels comfortable starting, performing, and finding their community
- I care about making sure the committee runs smoothly
My main proposals:
- Expand external opportunities: sponsorships, subsidised rehearsal studio rates for LM members (already in progress), and creating a channel where we actively share gig opportunities by working with pubs and local venues, so members can easily find paid gigs
- SPR: fix broken equipment and improve rehearsal allocations for shows so members don’t lose their slots last minute. I’d also introduce a simple form for members to report equipment issues
- More socials: build on the LM family by creating more opportunities for members to find their people in such a big society
