Live Music Society: House Band Director

I'm standing because I love playing music live, and I want to make sure that everyone else who also loves it - or even those who have never performed live before - get the opportunity to play in front of others and share their passion for music because it's such a fun experience playing new songs with new people and I believe every musician should do it.

I've played in most of the House Band gigs, and as someone who has run a few other bands and events at school before, I understand the organisation and commitment that goes into preparing for a gig. This allows for me to be able to run rehearsals smoothly and help the entire band with any parts they are struggling with.

Having also played in Rhapsody and seeing how community is such a big part in how musicians play together I would make sure that House Band socials continue as they have this year, ensuring that the musicians get to know each other, my fellow director and myself. This is all to encourage an environment for musicians to feel comfortable signing up for gigs and feeling like they can ask for help and voice their recommendations and opinions during rehearsals. 

Hello! It’s me, Elijah, guitarist and Winner of Worst Dressed Cast Member for Rhapsody 2026. 

I need your help. 

The LM Society’s House Band has the potential to be steered into a critical direction. I’m talking:

• More opportunities for underrepresented musicians.

• A wider variety of genres (that include more than just Valerie and Adele - as much as I like them).

• The creation of artist profiles that would allow the best pairings of musicians to form a band and for you to play songs you actually wanna play. 

• and sign-ups that don’t prioritise those who are doing absolutely nothing at that specific moment in time when they are sent out. 

I envision a House Band community that prioritises cohesion, friendship and opportunity. House Band should carry with it an energy and demand never seen before and should place individuals and their skills at the centre.

If you nominate me to be your House Band director, I will ensure I follow through with these promises. As a politics student, the amount of free time I have is staggering: free time which will be dedicated towards making sure YOU have the greatest House Band to date. 

House Band Director also assumes responsibility of LM’s illusive function band. No more will this band be shrouded in mystery, and instead clear pathways for musicians in House Band will be revealed + communicated.
