Hey everyone ! I’m Kamile and have been a part of the Lithuanian society since 2023 and was president during the 2024-25 academic year. My absence this year within the society was due to my year abroad at the University of Michigan but I am set to come back to UCL to finish my final year of my undergraduate degree! While my time here has definitely been adventurous, it’s made me truly understand the importance of our community.
Both of my parents are Lithuanian and even though i've grown up in the UK i've always been connected to my ethnic roots, attending Lithuanian Saturday school since a young age, and participating in Lithuanian folk dancing here and abroad within the Baltic States. University can be stressful, and I want to bring more excitement to our society ; the celebration of our independence days, more dance workshops that we could have the opportunity to perform ( if desired ) , cultural cooking and food exchange nights within the central campus location or more scenic options like Primrose Hill :) participate in Baltic festivals and events within the community and even host one !
Importantly, I plan to continue making this society a diverse space for all ; our Baltic neighbours and those who are interested in learning in our culture overall, and work with other societies to help you create connections and even more exciting memories :) Lets get this show on the road , Varom!!
Hi everyone,
I’m Diana Viktorija Kartėnė, a second-year AMS student,
This year I’ve had the honour of being your treasurer in the Lithuanian Society🇱🇹.
Being part of this society means more to me than just organizing events. It’s about community, culture, language, and having a small piece of Lithuania with us while we’re studying abroad. This year, through managing finances, helping organise events, and seeing how everything runs behind the scenes, I’ve gained real insight into what makes our society work, and what we could do to make it even better. That’s why I believe I could be your President next academic year.
I feel that we can do even more to preserve and celebrate our Lithuanian identity here. I care deeply about creating events that people genuinely look forward to events that bring us together, remind us of home, and strengthen our community. I see society growing and collaborating to have more joint events within UCL and outside. Most importantly, I want our society to feel like a second home for every member.
I truly believe that Lithuanian culture is interesting, unique, and something more people would love to experience and learn about if we showcase it with pride and creativity.
I would be incredibly grateful for your support and trust in allowing me to represent our Lithuanian Society as President.
Ačiū 💛💚❤️
