Hi! I'm running for Welfare Officer to create a space where every Life Sciences student feels welcomed and supported. As a second-year Biochemistry student, I've struggled to balance demanding coursework, endless deadlines all whilst maintaining a social life. It's easy to become overwhelmed without knowing how to deal with the academic pressure.

I believe focusing on mental health and knowing how to take a break is just as important as staying on top of all your deadlines. Which is why I want to build a Life Sciences community where looking after yourself is prioritised, not an afterthought!

As your welfare officer, my goal is to organise regular, low-pressure events where you can actually relax and connect with like-minded people. As someone who finds that stepping away from the library, whether it's for a quick regents park walk, a bakery trip, or just fresh air genuinely helps reset my mind, so I'm excited to create more opportunities for us to get out of our usual stress bubbles together.

Hello! This is Olivia, a first-year Biochemistry student running for the Welfare Officer position in the Life Sciences Society! 🌟

Your welfare matters. It matters that you are living well in a safe, comfortable environment, and I hope to help create this inclusive space!

During my two years as the Lead Wellbeing Prefect in high school, I organised wellbeing-focused events and helped create a positive, safe environment within the cohort! Through this role, I learned how much our thoughts and feelings impact and shape us. At the same time, my position as Chair of the Chemistry Society helped me develop academic communication skills and gain insight into different challenges students face. Building on these experiences, I hope to create an even more supportive environment in the Life Sciences Society!

As someone who has and continues to experience the same emotional struggles as any other Life Sciences student, I hope to connect with you through relaxed socials, wellbeing-focused activities, or even just a casual chat! Whether it is fighting through London's gloomy weather 🌧️ 🌂, being anxious about academics 🧠, or any other concerns, I will be here to listen and help! 😃👂🏻

I know that being a Life Sciences student can be stressful at times, as we often have a lot on our plates. However, as a cohort of like-minded academics striving for meaningful experience in this field, I hope we can all create joyful and fulfilled memories along our way! 😌

Thank you :)
