Hi everyone! I'm Keira, a first year Biomedical Sciences student and aspiring life sciences consultant. My interest in consulting came from realising that the most promising therapeutics don't reach patients through science alone, but through sharp commercial strategy. This gap between lab and market is what I want to help life sciences students understand and step into, and why I'm standing as Business and Consulting Representative.
My experience sits at this intersection. I won the ICL Enterprise Lab Challenge developing a 5-year business model and regulatory analysis for a biodegradable medical device innovation, showing thinking as both a scientist and a strategist. At UCL's Zero-to-Demo Hackathon, I created a digital health tracking app for elderly living alone and pitched it to investors, finishing third – identifying and transforming a clinical gap into a viable product proposition. As a consultant at UCL Consulting Society, I aim to use my experience in corporate problem-solving and client communications to aid students transitioning from research into consulting.
I actively engage in startup fairs, healthtech conferences, and alumni events across UCL Life Sciences, MedTech, and Genetics societies, providing me the network to connect members with diverse people and opportunities.
As Business and Consulting Representative, I aim to support life sciences students aspiring to break into consulting, through practical experience and industry networking opportunities.
Hi everyone! I’m Aizhan, and I’m running for Consulting and Business Representative of LSS.
As Treasurer of LSS this year, I’ve really enjoyed being involved in the society and hope to continue being part of such a supportive community! One of the most valuable parts of LSS for me has been the career panels and talks featuring professionals working in consulting, banking, and other industry roles.
When I first joined the society as a first year, I didn’t know much about the opportunities available to life sciences students outside of research. Attending these events gave me insight into paths I hadn’t considered before and made careers in industry feel much more accessible and feasible.
Through this role, I would love to organise similar opportunities for other students. This will include networking events with industry professionals, panel discussions with alumni, and case study workshops / interview preparation workshops that will allow students to gain hands-on experience with business problem-solving.
Those career events truly played a big role in helping me explore paths beyond academia, so I would really love the chance to create more of those opportunities for other students and help them discover possibilities they might not know about yet.
I would really appreciate your support! Thank you :)
Hi, I'm Hope and I hope to be the next LSS next business and consulting representative! While studying neuroscience at UCL, I realised that many of my life sciences peers are unaware of the intersections between business, consulting and life sciences. We’re often only exposed to traditional research or lab-based career paths. I want to change that introducing more students to exciting opportunities in life sciences consulting and business.
My strengths as a candidate have been built through my experience working in a biotech company which gave me insight into how life sciences corporations operate. I’ve also engaged with professionals across both industries at global consulting firms such as Oliver Wyman and PA Consulting—alongside my success in the UCL Consulting Society case competition—has developed my passion for life science consulting.
I’m eager to use my knowledge to organising impactful events that provide meaningful insights for our members. Through the network I’ve built across consulting and life sciences, I’ve cultivated strong relationships with professionals in consulting and life science entrepreneurship who are keen to share their experiences. I will platform them through workshops and networking events, while strengthening inter-society partnerships through case competitions and case clubs, enabling members to apply their scientific expertise in business and consulting contexts.
I’m committed to expanding opportunities for LSS members. I would love your support!
