Apiraami Manivannan

Hey everyone!!

My name is Apiraami, 2nd year medical student, and I’m running to be your Vice President!!

One of the main reasons I’m really excited about this role is the opportunity to support both the committee and the wider society. A strong society works best when everyone feels supported in their roles, and I’d love to help make sure our committee members have the help, communication, and encouragement they need to bring their ideas to life.

As Vice President, I would aim to:

Support the President and the rest of the committee in making sure everything runs smoothly
• Help coordinate between different roles so events and initiatives are easier to organise
• Be someone committee members can rely on when they need an extra pair of hands or a sounding board for ideas
• Work to ensure the society continues to be a welcoming and supportive environment for all members

I’d also really like to focus on making sure everyone in the society feels included and able to get involved, whether that’s through events, projects, or simply feeling comfortable coming along and meeting new people.

I’m someone who genuinely enjoys working with others, supporting teams, and helping ideas come together, and I’d love the chance to contribute to the society in that way.

If you’d like someone who is approachable, supportive, and enthusiastic about helping the whole committee succeed, I’d really appreciate your vote!

HELP ME HELP YOU AS THE VP!!!

  • The bridge you didn't know you needed: a VP should be the reason members feel heard and the reason the president doesn't have a breakdown. I intend to be both. Having worked across UCL societies at a welfare level, I know how quickly the gap between committee and members grows when nobody's tending to it. Consider it tended.
  • SESSION STRUCTURE THAT DOESN'T KILL THE VIBE: Lamorna works because it feels effortless. My job is to make sure it stays that way while quietly making sure everything behind the scenes is actually held together. Think duck on water, serene on top, paddling furiously underneath so you don't have to.
  • Supporting the president like I mean it: not just in title, actually showing up, picking up the slack, and making sure no one person is carrying the whole society on their back. I've seen what under-supported leadership looks like from the outside. Lamorna deserves better than that.
  • Low pressure, always: no grand rebrands, no sudden "new direction" energy. Lamorna is a sanctuary, and the VP's job is to protect that, more peace, better communication, sessions that feel like a breath out rather than another thing on the list.

I want to be the reason Lamorna keeps feeling like Lamorna. Calm, creative, and genuinely cared for. (note: I will absolutely be the one sending the politely firm emails so nobody else has to)
