Isabella Ho

As a passionate candle maker and jar painter who has attended every workshop event, I have actively listened to many ideas and suggestions from our fellow members. I am thus ready to execute those ideas as Events Director, even within our tight budget, to ensure every member can make their dream candle!

 My strategic vision:

-Diversifying Our Candle Choices: I will collaborate with our Creative Director to implement more creative and interesting candle ideas, such as introducing transparent jelly wax, making ombre candles or pressed flower candles for low- cost, high-aesthetic candles. I will also source new candle jars and candle moulds for innovative themes every month.

-Strategic Resource Management: I will also ensure materials for workshops remain abundant and high quality. I am ready to negotiate with the Student Union proactively for increased funding while also sourcing high-quality acrylic markers, unique scents and diverse candle moulds at lower costs.

-Maximizing Workshop Accessibility: I will collaborate with the President to set up tickets for the workshops and advocate for extended booking windows (12-6pm). By increasing both event duration and frequency, I aim to make our workshops accessible to every schedule, ensuring that neither our members nor committee feel rushed to finish their candles or clean.

In the role of Events Director, I am dedicated to providing a relaxing space and abundant resources, so that everyone can make their perfect candle in peace!

Maisie Barker

Hi everyone, My name is Maisie and I’m currently studying Psychology. I would love to be the next event director for Lamorna Society because I enjoy organizing events have a few ideas for workshops next year as well as about more potential collaborations with different societies such as with bubble tea society that I would like to make happen. I also would like the opportunity to work alongside other members such as the creative director to continue expanding the range and variety of candles available in the workshops. If you vote for me, I will make sure to listen to and take into account suggestions people make about themed workshops they want in the future and shape some events around those as I value fellow member opinions and want to make this society a place where everyone feels included and feels satisfied with the workshops held, especially as events are less frequent for this society compared to others due to costs and other hindrances. I would like to look into the possibility of holding more events next year though which would have to be discussed with the rest of the committee and worked out. I think having slightly more events, if it works with the budget and other factors, would be nice because as a member of Lamorna society I have always found the workshops to be quite relaxing and fun so having more events would help keep cortisol levels low. Thank you for reading my pitch, I didn’t really know what to include in it but I hope this convinced you to vote me. 😊

Apiraami Manivannan

Hey everyone!!

My name is Apiraami, currently a Y2 medical student, and I’m running to be your Events Director!! 🕯️

I’ve always loved creative spaces where people can come together, try something new, and just enjoy making things. That’s why I’d love the chance to help organise candle-making events that are fun, relaxed, and open to everyone, whether you’re crafty or just curious.

If elected, I’d love to run events that are both creative and social — somewhere people can switch off for a bit, chat with others, and leave with something they’ve made themselves.

A few ideas I’d love to bring in include:

🕯️More charity/welfare sessions
🕯️More themed events
🕯️Continued collaboration with other societies

Most importantly, I’d want these events to feel welcoming and relaxed, where people can meet others, be creative, and enjoy the process.

I’m a friendly (slightly chaotic) person who’s always up for a chat, and I’d love to help organise events that people genuinely look forward to.

If you like the idea of cosy, creative events and making some great smelling candles, I’d really appreciate your vote 🕯️✨
