I am standing for Treasurer because Kendo has given me a genuine sense of belonging and I want to help ensure the club stays sustainable, welcoming and accessible for everyone. For me, a treasurer is about making sure financial barriers never discourage a student from picking up a shinai and missing out on great fun!
I believe I am well suited to this role because I am organised, careful with detail and used to handling responsibility in real-world financial situations. Through part-time work I have regularly processed payments, balanced daily takings and maintained accurate financial records, which has trained me to be precise, consistent and accountable. I feel confident in allocating club funds to best support training, events and competitions, while keeping spending clear and fair for members.
If elected, I want to improve access to shared equipment by making sizing options more available and clearer. I will also keep communication open and be transparent about pricing and budgets and is always happy to answer any questions or concerns so members feel supported.
I would also like to introduce a small monthly incentive to encourage positive engagement with Kendo beyond our regular sessions. Since UCL training is already free, I would aim to support members by using club funds to subsidise the first practice at another dojo each month, as a way to help beginners take the next step, while also being a nice extra benefit for existing members.
I am normal and can be trusted with club funds.
