Kendo Club: Social Secretary

I am standing for the role of Social Secretary because I truly value the sense of community within our club. I genuinely enjoy being part of social events, sharing laughs with everyone, and spending time together outside the dojo. For me, some of the most meaningful parts of being in a club come from the friendships made along the way, friendships where people can grow together in kendo while also supporting each other in other aspects of life. Being able to help promote these opportunities for members to spend time together outside regular practice is something I would really enjoy contributing to.

Over the past year, I have gained experience promoting events for a student society at the university by designing social media content, and I have also worked on poster designs for a charity foundation in Hong Kong. These experiences helped me develop skills in visual communication and event promotion that I hope to bring to the club. As Social Secretary, I would work closely with the rest of the committee to ensure our promotions clearly communicate upcoming activities and reflect the welcoming and supportive community we value within the dojo.

I am also someone who pays close attention to details and is always happy to help if anyone has questions, especially beginners who may feel unsure when they first start. I want everyone to feel comfortable asking questions and to be able to enjoy kendo as much as possible, while feeling supported both inside and outside of training.

I will ensure effective communication between the club and all of its members by any means necessary, and can be trusted in this position of (little) power to shape the club's online presence. KCL have come too close to our follower count, and will soon surpass us in online influence. A vote for me is a vote for the fight against KCL and their silly crested red shinai bags. "A picture is worth a thousand words" - my social media expertise can be summed up in this one picture, as my camera clearly indicates a high prowess in social media-ing. To the parties for which it matters, I also pledge an increase in the number of videos of men.
