I am standing for welfare officer of the K-pop Society because I believe fandom should be more than shared music taste — it should be a safe, supportive community where everyone feels welcome. K-pop brings together people from different cultures and identities, and I want to help ensure that our society reflects the inclusivity and positivity that many artists promote. As welfare officer, I would work to be confidential, create clear wellbeing resources, and check in regularly with members.
I want to organise informal socials and discussion spaces where members can connect without feeling overwhelmed. I would also collaborate with the committee to ensure events are accessible, culturally sensitive, and mindful of different comfort levels. Most importantly, I want every member — from new fans to long-time fans — to feel heard and respected. Fandom should be joyful, not stressful. As welfare officer, I will prioritise empathy, inclusivity, and open communication so that our K-pop Society remains not just fun, but genuinely supportive.
I’m running for Welfare Officer because I want to help ensure that our society is a truly welcoming and inclusive space for every single member! I know that for many of us, this society is a home away from home, and I want to make sure everyone feels they truly belong here.
I’ve noticed ways we can make our community even more supportive and accessible. My focus is on creating an environment where everyone—whether they are a long-time member or just joining us—feels comfortable and heard. I want to ensure that every individual feels they have a voice and a place in our community.
I’m confident in my organizational skills and time management—I’m very meticulous and always aim to stay on top of things. I know how important it is for a Welfare Officer to be a reliable and consistent point of contact.
Overall, my goal is to bring more empathy and attention to the well-being of our members; making sure everyone feels valued, included, and happy to be part of our society!
