Jazz Society: Workshop Manager

I am standing as the workshop manager as I am passionate about jazz education and introducing jazz to the wider community. Attending Will's workshops has been one of my jazz highlights of the year, thus I wish to take on this role to not only continue the lineage, but improve the workshops so that both new and returning attendees will hopefully find them as valuable as I did. Having taught a portion of a workshop recently, I found myself very much in enjoyment and walked away feeling ready to take on this role full time next year. 

With my technical ability on multiple instruments (saxophone and multiple rhythm section instruments), I plan on extending the content of the workshop beyond mere theory, on which it is currently mainly focused, to also encompass technical skills such as articulation and other instrument-specific techniques (especially on the saxophone!). Moreover, considering that the current workshop is fairly teacher-driven, I will be more open to suggestions from attendees as to the content and focus of each lesson.

Finally, I believe that my former positions in secondary school as the founder and president of the Music Council as well as the leader of Big Band, has armed me with the requisite leadership skills to be able to lead and manage the workshop, as well as the other responsibilities that entail (such as be responsible the equipment).

All in all, I am beyond excited to take on this role and I hope to be your workshop manager next year!
