Jazz Society: President

Hey everyone! I’m Carrie, a second year English student and jazz vocalist. Arriving at UCL as only a listener of jazz, I feel so privileged to have now taken part in a multitude of performances, running the Phineas jam, and spending time with a great group of people. I've learnt so much about jazz through the society and feel beyond inspired by the talented friends I have made here, so it feels only right to give back and continue the legacy of what jazz soc has built over the years.

Jazz society is unique in that we are such a busy society covering such a breadth of activities. As your President, I will ensure to make all the society has to offer is easily accessible to anyone, push our reputation as the best arts society further, and most of all make jazz society an appealing, fun environment to be in. I’d really love to push all events to be as vibrant as they once were.

That being said, I don't believe this would be possible without the collective effort of the committee. As President I’d love to be a surveyor, not controller. Committee members should be trusted with their parts, but delegation is also necessary. I would give committee the chance to really push forward what they want for their role and encourage collaboration between members to tighten our bond. As for all members, I’d love to give you all the chance to use your voice through writing opportunities and frequent feedback meetings.
