Can Saray

I’m nominating myself for Partnerships Director because I genuinely enjoy building meaningful relationships that create value for everyone involved. Having completed the UCL Foundation Year before starting my degree, I have had the opportunity to understand the UCL community from different perspectives and appreciate how important strong connections are in helping students access new opportunities. This year, serving as a first year Client Relations Representative in Business Society and taking on a student representative role has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, listen to different needs, and build trust between people and teams. These experiences have shown me that successful partnerships are not just about outreach, but about creating genuine collaboration and long term value. If elected, I want to focus on developing partnerships that feel authentic and beneficial for both our members and the organisations we work with, while also making opportunities more accessible and engaging for students interested in entrepreneurship. My goal is to help build a society where relationships are strong, opportunities are meaningful, and people feel encouraged to connect, learn, and grow together.

Nona Jolly Jones

As Client Relations Officer, my goal would be to strengthen the Society’s connections with industry while creating more meaningful opportunities for members to engage with professionals across finance. Having spent time working in investment management at Schroders in my gap year, and analysing companies and markets, I have seen how valuable direct interaction with practitioners can be in developing a deeper understanding of the industry.

If elected, I would focus on expanding partnerships with banks, asset managers and hedge funds to deliver more practical, firm-led events such as case workshops, market discussions and smaller group networking sessions. I would also prioritise building stronger engagement with alumni so members can hear directly from graduates who have recently entered the industry and gain insight into different career paths.

Alongside this, I would work to ensure these opportunities are accessible to a wide range of members by balancing large speaker events with more interactive sessions where students can ask questions and discuss ideas. My aim would be to make the Society a place where members not only learn about finance, but build real connections with the people working in it.

I am nominating myself for this position because I am confident in my ability to build and maintain strong, professional relationships that add long-term value to the society. I am proactive, organised, and comfortable communicating with a wide range of corporate sponsors to alumni and external partners. I am confident that my reliability and commitment to the society’s purpose will enable me to contribute positively and help elevate the society’s presence this year.

I have experienced how valuable it is to attend events as I’m still discovering my path in finance. I want to make events further accessible by collaborating with the committee to expand professional connections with alumni and firms. I am particularly motivated to curate a diverse range of events, from technical workshops and employer panels to networking evenings, that cater to different interests and stages within finance. By maintaining clear and professional communication, I am passionate about creating meaningful, engaging experiences that empower students pursuing careers in this industry.

I believe I am the right fit for the role because I combine strong organisational skills with a genuine enthusiasm for bringing people together.

Alvaro Rodrigo De Diego

After serving as President of UCLIS this academic year, I have decided to step down from the role and run for Client Relations. I am keen to remain actively involved in the society while leveraging the strong network of client relationships I have built over the past year.
