Hello! I'm Alarice and I'm running for Editor-In-Chief for Circum Mundum. As a writer for this year's publication, I've seen how the journal has provided a space for students to critically engage with contentious global issues, which is ever so important in the current political climate. My intended approach for leading next year's team primarily involves accountability, collaboration and open dialogue.
I'd like achieve this firstly through proposing meetings twice per academic term, in order to establish a clear agenda and timeline from the start, gathering feedback and reflections at the end of each rotation. In the selection process, I also propose that applicants to the journal list their own writing interests, in order to create a passionate team with comprehensive coverage across the globe. Furthermore, I'd like to engage more involvement from the student body and student societies in the podcast, particularly when topics involve specific communities. I'd like to ensure all voices are treated with nuance as much as they can be. I also intend to set up active communication channels to ensure writers and editors are able to reach out to the team or each other accessibly.
My vision for Circum Mundum in the coming year is to continue to be a platform for students to use their voice to spread knowledge and insights to the wider community around them. Even more so, I'd like to lead a team of members in an environment where they can actively learn from and support one another.
Hi Guys,
As your current welfare officer and Circum Mundum vice-president, I would love to become your editor-in-chief this year. I believe our former editor-in-chief did a great job but I have some suggestions to widen participation and make our journal more visible:
- More Social Media Attention
- Our journal has some great writers and amazing articles. I believe we need to advertise this better on our social media accounts, which is why I propose to work together with the society's social media officer to create more engaging posts and hopefully reach more people.
- Introduce new Genres
- I think we need an "opinion" section, every great magazine does! This way, our journal can be more entertaining as well and writers could apply to write an opinion piece on a one-time basis.
- Host Events and Socials
- The writers, editors and podcast producers are team, I believe we should have Circum Mundum socials in which we can all get to know eachother and create great networks, as well as friendships!
- Additionally, we should increase our visibility by hosting Circum Mundum fire-side chats for our members, in which the writers, editors or podcast team talk about their current work and world affairs.
