I am standing as I believe that I can provide an enriching and enjoyable timetable for society members. With American affairs being so topical at the moment, it is crucial that the society engages with academic material outside of our assessed studies. This would especially be helpful for people looking to further their education past undergraduate level or go into a career regarding American or international affairs.

I am a very organised person, and I have experience in organising events like these. As chair of the politics society in sixth form, I wrote to countless political figures, including Penny Mordaunt and Alistair Campbell, inviting them to speak to the society. After these talks, I would organise a dinner for the speaker and other keen politics students. This was especially fulfilling when John Major joined us for a talk and dinner. I have very good attendance (of academic events in the department/lectures and seminars) and I'll put 100% into this role without slacking on my studies I am also very sociable, and would be love to reach out to other societies to coordinate academic events to provide even more students to academically enrich themselves. This is important for all students studying similar subjects, as understanding American affairs from a historical/political science perspective is imperative to our comprehending of the subject.

Being Academic Secretary would be greatly fulfilling and I will endeavour to make the society academically enriched next year
