Being alongside our current President Rohan during Ingenue's inception, the key identification we made was that the current system was effectively rigged against students who prior to enrolment at UCL, received few or no opportunities to advance themselves not just technically, but also professionally. This feature has been augmented into our committee, where we have hired from within the current project members, to give them a voice and role in how Ingenium is run, and what direction it takes.
This abandonment of a top-down bureaucratic structure is one that resonates with students, and by placing the power in their hands, we enrich their professional experience. As the current Treasurer, I seek to take a more grounded role, working more closely with the students and mentors, to enrich their relationship, and to ensure that no team and no student gets left behind.
The influence that Ingenium has is only going to grow, and it would be a privilege to have the opportunity to help grow what was a fledgling idea, into something which encompasses all engineering students, and enriches their learning outside the curriculum. The task at hand is clear - provide project members with satisfaction with what they accomplish, and boost them upwards.
