Having served as your Social Secretary, I’ve had the privilege of building the vibrant community spirit that makes this club so special. Through organizing our socials and getting to know our members, I’ve realized that for us to enjoy our time at the stables and in competitions, we need a rock-solid administrative foundation. I am running for Secretary to bring my committee experience and organizational energy to the very heart of the club’s operations.
Why Me? (The Experienced Candidate)
- Proven Committee Insight: As your current Social Sec, I already navigate the SU’s systems and understand the inner workings of our club. I won’t need a "settling-in" period; I am ready to handle the paperwork, room bookings, and logistics from Day 1.
- Logistics-Minded: Managing social events has honed my ability to coordinate complex schedules and budgets. I will translate these skills into managing our lesson rosters, transport logistics, and competition entries with precision.
- Member-Focused Communication: I’ve spent the year listening to what you want. As Secretary, I will ensure that all club communications—from lesson sign-ups to competition updates—are clear, timely, and accessible.
I have been a part of the UCL Horse Riding Society for two years, and I feel that there have not been enough opportunities for the society and the team to get to know each other outside of riding lessons or competitions. As events secretary, I would like to change this by organising more ways the society can make everyone feel connected and welcome. This would mean more Wednesday night socials, collaborating with other societies and riding activities outside of lessons such as trail rides.
I want to expand the society to make it more welcoming to new members, and provide opportunities and spaces that would allow the society to feel more connected. This is why I am running for events secretary of UCL Horse Riding Society.
