I joined UCLWHC in my first year as a way to keep doing hockey and make a few friends, not expecting too much. Little did I know how important this decision would be as it become the heart of my university experience; it led me to making my closest friends, helped me to not feel alone at university and created a topic of conversation that I could never stop talking about. If I had to give any 1st year advice, I would tell them to join to hockey society as they would truly never regret it.
Because this club has meant so much to me, I would be honoured to giveback by presenting myself for the role of 2s captain next year. I truly believe I have the commitment, leadership and passion to continue building on the team culture that Kate created this year.
In terms of experience, I have played hockey since I was 6 years old. It always been a huge part of my life. On top of this, I’ve also been the coach of a team of 11-12-year-old girls. This helped me develop my leadership skills and made me step out of my comfort zone. I also learned to motivate, and how to support people when they doubt themselves while pushing the team to be better while keeping the love of the sport.
I have always wanted to present myself for the role of captain so that I could pass on the passion I have for hockey to my team mates and to create an environment where everyone feels proud to wear a 2s shirt. (this is not the final manifesto, I just had to fit the word count, i sent the actual one by mail)
