Over the past year as Vice President of the Hedge Fund Society, I’ve had the chance to help run events and see where the society works well and where it can improve even further. One of my main priorities would be continuing to grow and restructure the fund. I’d like to introduce a more structured research process and encourage members to incorporate quantitative methods, alternative data, and AI tools into their analysis, reflecting the systems many hedge funds are increasingly using. I’d also want to strengthen the society’s links with the industry. Through upcoming spring week programmes at firms such as Optiver and DRW and a summer internship at SPX Capital, I hope to bring in stronger sponsorship and speakers while creating more opportunities for members to engage directly with people working in the field. Another idea I would like to incorporate is a summer bootcamp aimed at first and second year students. The focus would be on developing technical skills that are increasingly relevant for hedge funds, including Python, data analysis and working with alternative datasets. Over the past year I also built an AI outreach system for the society to help us connect with more professionals and secure speakers. Next year I’d like to expand this further so we can consistently bring high quality guests to campus. Overall, I want to help make the Hedge Fund Society a place where members can genuinely develop investing skills and learn how the industry actually operates.

If elected President, my goal would be to build a society that helps members develop the skills and perspectives needed to think like investors. Through my own experience researching companies, analysing markets and taking part in investment competitions, I have seen how valuable it is to combine technical learning with the opportunity to apply ideas in practice.

I would focus on three priorities. First, strengthening the Society’s technical offering through regular workshops on areas such as fundamental analysis, portfolio construction and investment strategy. Second, increasing engagement with professionals working in hedge funds and asset management so members can gain direct insight into how investment ideas are developed and implemented.

Finally, I would introduce more opportunities for members to test their thinking through stock pitch sessions, collaborative research projects and investment competitions. My aim would be to create an environment where members not only learn about markets, but actively develop and challenge their own investment ideas.
