Jessica Grant

I'm a standard member of Consulting Society and Business Society, and have attended many of their events, from the annual Consulting Summit, and the MBB speaker panel, to the Oliver Wyman recruitment event, which led me to attend 3 of their Women at Oliver Wyman x UCL recruitment events. I've built up a vast professional and personal network through my time in these societies that I can't wait to bring to this society.

I'm a consultant at LSC, where I'm tasked with working with another member to interview potential customers for my client by preparing an interview script and reaching out to them. This requires deep knowledge of my client's product and goals to identify customers that match the client's value proposition, to gain insider information on their company to test their suitability for my client's product. So far, I've interviewed 4 potential customers both in-person and online and I've learnt to use the "Mum test", where instead of forcefully pitching the idea and goal to the customer, I ask them genuine, open questions about them. "Have you faced problems with organising patient data? If so, what kind of problems and how did you solve them?", "What would help solve your current data/admin problems?" etc. Doing this prevents them from lying to help you and actually provides deeper insight into the client and the scope of the problem the client needs to solve.
