I’m standing for Treasurer because I want to help give back to the UCL golf society as I’ve really enjoyed being part of it and I think it’s the best place for me to contribute to the committee and help make sure the society keeps growing, running great events, and giving members the most value possible.
Through previous leadership roles and team projects I’ve developed strong organisation, reliability, and the ability to work well with others to make things actually happen. I’m comfortable taking responsibility, keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes, and making sure plans are followed through properly.
Additionally I have experience handling budgets and making sensible decisions about how money is used so I can ensure the society gets the most out of it.
Most importantly though, I want to help the society keep improving and be part of a committee that makes our golf events as fun, active, and well-run as possible for everyone. If elected, I’ll do my best to make sure the finances are handled properly so the club can focus on what actually matters - more golf, better events, and a great year for members.
The Treasurer position at the UCL Golf Club is centric to the smooth running of the society. I aim to modernise our financial approach and improve the accessibility of the club while keeping the tradition this Club is built on intact. Currently playing to a 19 handicap, I understand there is more to the game than just hitting balls. A major reason more people don’t play is because golf is an expensive sport, with 88% of golfers wishing the game was cheaper. This translates directly to university students; we shouldn’t have to choose between a round and our weekly budget.
As a BSc Economics student, I will apply the analytical rigor of my degree to our club’s accounts. I am prepared for the fiduciary responsibility of this role through four years of experience managing an ever-evolving tutoring business, and years of interest in how golf clubs balance diversified revenue streams. With this innate curiosity, I plan to move us towards an efficient, data-driven budget that ensures every penny of membership fees and student union grants is streamlined. This will translate to more range balls, more socials, and more rounds at prices that make sense. I aim to produce monthly fiscal reports available to all members, so you can see how we reinvest your fees into our community. By bridging the gap between professional management and our shared passion for the game, I hope to lead the Golf Club into its most accessible and successful season yet.
Hi everyone, my name is Rahul and I study BSc Economics and Statistics!
You might have already met me through golf socials and range sessions, but if you haven't, I have been playing golf for a couple years now and I really have loved being a part of the golf club as a member for the whole of this academic year, regardless of whether I become treasurer I am excited to continue being a member next year!
I am running for Treasurer because I am keen to manage the budgeting and financial aspects of the club, and I have learned from the current treasurer that the club is in an excellent financial state, and I hope to keep it this way for future treasurers and members of the club. To do this I will make sure to carefully analyse and explore all possible funding opportunities for the club, as well as allocating funds to key activities which provide the most enjoyment for members. I want to make sure there is enough allocated to socials, coaching and on-course opportunities for all our members to take part extensively this year!
Thank you for reading my short pitch, and I hope you have a great day!!!
I am standing because I value what the Golf Club represents beyond the sport itself. Golf demands patience, discipline and composure, qualities that translate directly into academic and professional life. I would like to help build a welcoming but ambitious culture where both experienced players and beginners feel comfortable improving. Having balanced academics with sport for years, I understand the importance of consistency and organisation. I want to contribute to making training, competitions and social events well-run and enjoyable, so the club remains both competitive and cohesive.
