Karina Gunawan

Hi! I'm Karina, a first-year BA Geography with Social Data Science undergraduate. I'm excited to run for this position because I strongly believe that showcasing our events and members is important in strengthening the society's identity and sense of community. I have strong experience in social media and marketing - from acting as a photographer for a football shirt business, to managing the Instagram content and website updates for an art gallery. As my high school's Arts Ambassador, I also promoted our talent show and arts festival through consistently communicating information to students and staff. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music whilst making arts-and-crafts like zine-making and crocheting. These experiences have taught me how to design posters, broadcast large events, video edit and create social media content, but I would love to expand these skills through this role.

If I am elected, I will ensure the society's aims and events are clearly and consistently communicated through accessible and visually engaging content. I will achieve this by being more active on Instagram and regularly update other platforms like LinkedIn and Linktree. I also want to document the society's academic events and socials to highlight the students' diverse geographical interests. To continue building a tight-knit geography community, I would focus on making the committee more accessible through FAQs and feedback forums to ensure students are properly supported.

Denisa Sula

Hello ! My name is Denisa and I am excited to apply for the role of Social Media and Marketing officer for the Geographical Society. As someone who has greatly benefited from being part of Geog Soc, I understand just how important its events and community are in helping students feel grounded and supported. The society played a key role in helping me settle into university life, and I would love the opportunity to contribute to creating that same welcoming environment for others.

Creativity has always been a major part of who I am. I completed A Level Art, which strengthened my visual communication skills and eye for design. Alongside this, I have previous marketing experience from helping to promote a successful small café business. This involved designing promotional materials, managing online presence; essential for capturing attention and encouraging participation.

I would bring enthusiasm, reliability and a clear understanding of how effective marketing can enhance society engagement so that everyone can benefit. I am eager to help Geog Soc continue to grow, ensuring its events are visible and exciting for all members.

I’d love to be your next Social Media and Marketing Officer for the Geographical Society. I have the creative eye needed to make our feeds pop, thanks to my background in fine art and product design, which together have given me the skills to thrive in this role, and am super excited to bring energy, creativity, and strategy to the role.

I’m organised, proactive, and full of ideas for campaigns, collaborations, and themed content weeks. Whether it’s promoting events, celebrating member achievements, or sharing interesting geographical facts, I’d make sure our platforms feel active and welcoming.

Marketing is all about teamwork. As Deputy Head Girl, I planned large-scale events, requiring initiative, strong communication skills and creativity – all skills which I can apply to this role. As a team player who communicates clearly, I’ll work closely with the committee throughout the year to ensure our promotion of Geogsoc is perfect.
