Mirielle Ofori

I’m running for Welfare Officer because I want the Friends of MSF UCL Chapter to be a society where people feel supported, connected, and comfortable engaging with important humanitarian issues. As a Global Humanitarian Studies student in the Department of Risk & Disaster Reduction, much of my course focuses on the human impact of crises and the importance of wellbeing in humanitarian work. I’d love to bring this perspective into the society and help strengthen links with the RDR community. I was the First Year Rep for FoMSF in the 2025/2026 academic year and was there for almost all the events, so I got a feel for what works, what doesn't and the community we have with other FoMSF Chapters.

If elected, I would focus on:

Creating a supportive society culture - making sure members feel comfortable discussing challenging humanitarian topics and always have someone approachable to talk to

Wellbeing-focused socials - organising relaxed events like cupcake decorating nights, coffee catch-ups, documentary evenings, and low-pressure meetups so people can connect

Connecting with the RDR community - hosting joint discussions or events on topics like humanitarian work, wellbeing, and burnout in crisis response

Keeping the society inclusive and welcoming - ensuring everyone feels comfortable getting involved, whether they prefer socials, talks, or fundraising events
