Football Red Star: Social Secretary

Gone are the days of Belushi’s five weeks in a row. Next year socials have the opportunity to get even better than last year.

Big socials, proper themes (and proper forfeits if you don’t follow them), bit of this bit of that, with some joint socials thrown in there too ;). I’ve even got a few new ideas up my sleeve!

Next year, I hope that they’ll be a bit for everyone’s fancy, and I want to make sure all of you boys are looking forward to properly good socials every single week!

Doing history means I’ve got a lot of time to play with, so pre-planning, booking venues and all that jazz will be in safe hands week in week out.

Wednesday socials can really make the uni experience top tier. Nearly all of my best memories this year have been with Red Star, and I’d love to keep this going.

I’d love to make sure the Red Star socials stay as fun and enjoyable as they are now across all year groups. UTFRS 🔴⭐️

When I started at UCL, Red Star was the first society I joined, first trial and first social I went to. Those socials have given me some of my very best mates. I’ve been to all bar one Scalas and Red Star socials this year (medical exemption ofc)  So I know as well as anyone what makes a good social. Being close with this year’s social secs has given me decent insight into what makes a good one. I’m a keen leader, like taking control of projects and seeing the rewards. An anecdote I can’t help but mention was the organisation of my boys lads holiday, organising 16 lads flights, hotels, insurance, transfers etc is just an example of my confident and composed leadership when it comes to seeing the lads have a good time. I’m a confident outgoing people’s person so I know how to encourage participation but also ensure, once the boys are there, that we have a good time. I have some really close friends across a range of societies so joint socials would definitely be on the cards. 

I know how important socials are to Red Star. So, since we’re in separate teams, it’s important that our socials are both enjoyable and get everyone involved. That’s two things I know I can do for the lads. I’m not a shy guy so if I know somethings on, I’ll make sure everyone knows. Having been to (almost) every Scala and social this year, I know the standard that’s been set and I’m ready to maintain it.

 If elected, I can’t promise we’ll remember all socials, but we won’t forget them. UTFRS🔴⭐️

As your social sec I would ensure Red Star remains as one of the most active and welcoming societies on campus. If I were to be elected I would help to organise new and inventive socials (with more than 2 days notice) that both help you to get to know your teammates and (hopefully) make it to Scala by the end of the night. Gone will be the days of people not being bothered to go to a Red Star social because we've been told to go to Belushi's for the 4th time this term. What I may lack in actual footballing ability I make up for in chopping skills and number of times I've thrown up in my girlfriend's bed after a Wednesday social, and what could possibly be a better quality of a social sec than that.

So I leave you with 3 things to expect for the upcoming 26/27 season if you decide to elect me as one of your 3 social secs :

1. BETTER turnout in Scala
2. MORE joint socials
3. LESS last minute socials with no real plan in place

i’m running for Social Sec because i’m at Scala every single week (but never at my thursday morning lecture) but still have more to bring. Wednesdays aren’t optional, theyre the reason i’m at ucl at this point. if there’s a pint to chop, a homeless woman, or a karaoke machine im there.

you’ve seen the dedication to the 🔴⭐️. you saw me at Belushi’s absolutely embarrass myself both times so you know i’m gonna put my all in to these socials. 

you know I’ll fight for the biggest and best nights even harder than i fought dhruv. i want socials and initiations people actually talk about, and packed Scalas. no utter woke “locking in” nonsense.

i’m not an arsenal fan so when these socials are on top there wont be any falling off after christmas (sorry seb x)
