Joining UCLWFC this year has been one of the best decisions I have made at university. This society has made my second year at UCL so enjoyable and fun, and I would love to give back. I have met so many wonderful people and made many new friends that I would never have met had I not joined football.
I have become extremely passionate about this club and the weekly training, socials and matches (when they're not cancelled!) have become the highlights of my week. I was very worried about joining football as I have always been an anxious person who gets overwhelmed easily, and I was concerned this would impact my ability to make friends with my teammates, as well as attending matches and socials. However, I was welcomed with open arms and have never been made to feel like my anxiety was a burden to the team.
I want to give back to the club, and also help those who may feel like I felt at the start of the year - worried about joining such a large society with so many passionate people. I think my experiences both before football, and now I have joined, make me a suitable candidate for this role, as I am empathetic to those who may have concerns or worries, as well as being a very caring person. Having been the Pride Representative this year, I have gained some experience in what the welfare officer position entails, and am confident that I would be able to manage the responsibility that comes with it.
UCLWFC has given me so much this year, and I would love to give something back.
