Hi everyone, it’s Jiayuan Zhang here, AKA Jennie. I’m sure most of you in the 4th team already know me pretty well. I’m currently in my second year studying Creative Arts and Humanities.
Being part of the 4th team, from starting as a social team all the way to playing in university leagues, has been one of the most unforgettable experiences of my university life. I’m so grateful for everyone’s company over the past two years. I’ve seen people come and go, but I’ve also grown used to those who’ve stayed with us all along.
I know I’m not the most skilled player, and there are plenty of people on the team who play far better than I do. But I've never felt left out, and you all’ve always been so patient in teaching me skills. That’s exactly why I love the 4th team so much and why I’ve always wanted to stay here, it feels like where I belong.
The third year is going to be really busy for me, but I’m used to supporting and helping the team quietly, bringing kits for matches, sorting out match preparations, helping organise games when we’re short on numbers, and so on. I’ve always really enjoyed helping out. We’ve never had a coach since the team started, yet we've gone from a social team to competing in university leagues. We’ve kept up weekly training, gone through losses together, and also had some really good results. Those memories mean so much to me, and I will really cherish them! I hope I can continue to lead and support you all in the future.
Thanks, and love you all xx
Hey guys, i think i would be a great 4s captain as i am mega committed to the team as shown by me playing every min of every match (i refuse to be subbed off) and attending basically every training session. Through this i’ve seen many ways the team can improve next year for example, building a committed team that shows up to matches week in week out.
Alsooo, i am such an organised person, i am the most on time person like ever, and love filling out a form so all admin stuff will be chill for me.
On top of this, i have attended every social and every scala (except 1 🥲) so i would defo be an approachable person for any team member to chat to or share any concerns. Also i would plan to organise more team socials to ensure the team is well bonded.
It would be so lush if I got to be captain alongside JESS as we would be such a good team and would 1000% run this team really well.
Over the past season, I have shown consistent commitment to the team through training attendance, match dedication, and a positive attitude both on and off the pitch which translated into higher morale and our players improving massively. I understand that being captain is not just about performance it’s about leadership, communication, reliability, and setting the standard for the team culture, apparently through my organisations of team socials throughout the year. I wouldn’t have been here without (hopefully) my co-captain Eve.
If elected as captain, I will prioritise improving team cohesion, encouraging consistent attendance and effort, and ensuring that everyone feels valued within the squad. I am passionate about helping the 4s grow stronger both competitively and socially. onsistent commitment to the team through training attendance, match dedication, and a positive attitude both on and off the pitch which translated into higher morale and our players improving massively. I value teamwork and understand the importance of clear communication between players, refs, committee and coaches.
