What’s up Filsoc! I’m one of many Michaels and I’m running for President because Filsoc has given me such a strong sense of belonging at UCL. I’m a strong believer that when you feel grateful, you pay it forward. 😛
When I first joined, that feeling of being welcomed meant a lot to me. Meeting new people and making friends through inter-uni societies and other Filsocs has genuinely been the biggest gift. By voting for the right people (shoutout STEEEPHEEEN), we can have even bigger and better collaborations.
Going into third year, I’ll be the backbone of Filsoc, making sure we have more events. Louder karaoke nights, boodle fights, DIY events. Organised so people are excited to attend and if no one’s picking up the mic? Trust I’ll be the loudest in the room.
Speaking of backbones, food brings everyone together. I’ve worked closely with the Treasurer (shoutout V1) to organise food and drinks, so I understand the planning behind the scenes. I’m ready to take that responsibility further and make sure our events deliver. And yes, WE will be eating more.
As a Psychology student working in group projects, I understand how important roles and communication are. I want to make sure Committee members get along, even when our ideas are different. At the end of the day, Filsoc is about its members. You’re the ones who count. So make your vote count!

Annyeonghaseyo bebotss!
It’s Gabbyy here running to be YOUR kawaii filsoc prezz 🫰
Filsoc is the OG. If x (my British home) and y (my Philippines home) lie on an axis graph, filsoc is the intersection of both, a.k.a the origin (0,0). As your pres, I’m here to be your biggest hype woman. Making sure filsoc is the most vibrant, inclusive and chaotic-in-the-best-way family at UCL.
My vision for filsoc revolves around continuing to embody our culture of hospitality and warmth within events. Not only by YOUR filserving committee, but also within our filserving community events. We can trust that the swagapino karaoke nights continue to slay, but also perhaps a Filipino food crawl of all the hidden gems in London and more fashion shows ;). Whatever filsoc vibes with, I flow with. Being president is not a solo job, the real ACE cards are ALL of YOU. I will listen to you, follow you, all whilst ensuring everything is in synchronicity.
Now, for the serious part. I’m not just a face card serving kawaii gyall, but I also serve brainss. My experience of being a team leader in a recent TATA consulting competition, solving real-world prominent problems for Virgin (Yes, THE Virgin Atlantic), allowed me to develop my skillset to break down discombobulating issues and find practical solutions. In this case, it would apply to the very scary possibility of low event turnouts or team conflicts. But, for real, let’s not think about that. We’re on a Live Laugh Love Life grind.
