With the club celebrating its 100th year anniversary, it is important to honour its legacy. Harbouring a safe, inclusive space where athletes, both beginners and elite, the club has never been in a more promising place. Continuing our thriving beginner's training environment is core to both the sport and the club; pushing forth our university outreach is key. I aim to foster an even greater sense of community with more socials and gatherings, including both new faces and the known. Having served as Secretary this year under a great committee, I have learnt what is central to running the club. Being a part of the Men's 2 team for the past two years has shown me what a fencer at UCL truly wants from their club. Regularly interacting and talking to our beginner and intermediate fencers has also shed light on how the club can further support new athletes. With experience as a fencer, club member, and committee representative, I believe I have both the knowledge and vision to keep the club moving on the great path it is already set on. I will be there for all fencers, whether it is your first or your thousandth time fencing, I serve you. I aim to foster the already healthy and safe space we have, while also looking at how the club can further expand and modernise. In my two years at the club, I have seen nothing but a great community, one that requires a much greater degree of outsider recognition, from the Student Union and other fencing clubs. #WhyNot
