From international embassy visits to pub crawls exploring new parts of London, the events and opportunities that the EISPS society have provided this year have allowed me to feel welcomed and comfortable in a new big city. The social events have given me my best friends at university and I have developed my interest in Latin American politics through organised political events as well as discovering new areas of international relations I never knew I was interested in! I would love to take on the role of the President of the EISPS society to ensure that this positive experience that helped me so much in my first year is not only passed on to help future students but also improved for them. I want to help people find their niche and discover what they love outside of a library or a lecture theatre, and becoming President of the society is the perfect way to do this because I can bring new ideas to the committee and present the thoughts of other members so that every individual feels represented.
I am a bubbly, enthusiastic and approachable person therefore I believe that in the position as President I would create a welcoming atmosphere and encourage the society’s community feeling. Having previously been a member of my sixth form’s student leadership team, I learnt the importance of collaboration and teamwork in order to enact change as well as how to lead a group so that tasks are completed efficiently and people’s different strengths are used to improve this.
