I've always been passionate about the UK dance music, though I must admit I was initially hesitant to join this society. However, I was immediately struck by how warmly everyone at EMS welcomed me. Their support gave me the confidence to play at venues like Venue MOT and Electrowerkz. Through this incredible experience, I truly realised how much power this community can give its members. Now, as Welfare Officer, I’m taking a step forward to ensure all members—especially those who might feel hesitant, as I once did—feel safe, supported, and heard.
Inclusivity is also central to my vision. Working closely with the committee, I will maintain a culture that actively supports diversity and underrepresented talents, ensuring our spaces remain genuinely safe and bias-free. As an international student who has been living in the UK for more than 7 years, I have always valued high levels of empathy and critical thinking, which I will leverage to address all concerns with complete confidentiality and care.
EMS gave me a start I never expected, and I’d love the chance to give back.
Hi! my name is Samarth, I'm a fourth year medical student and I've been a part of UCLEMS for 2 years, last year I was also the EMS welfare officer.
I really enjoy this role, being in a position to support members of our society in their own wellbeing and safety during our events is a way of giving back to this community that feels important and meaningful.
I can bring experience, approachability and enthusiasm into this role, not to mention that my medical background can also be convenient. Do consider voting for me, this society has been a great source of fun, community and support for me in my time at university - I would love to continue making sure that others feel the same way.
