I'm standing for Head of Events because I genuinely believe the Electronic Music Society deserves an events programme that pushes boundaries — not just in the music we showcase, but in the spaces we use and the people we platform.
I've been actively building connections within London's underground electronic music network, reaching out to venues and promoters that most student societies never tap into. I want to bring those relationships to EMS and create events that feel real, not generic — nights that actually reflect the culture we're part of.
What drives me most is making sure everyone in this society gets a fair shot at the stage. Whether you've been here since day one or just joined last week, you deserve the same energy and the same opportunities. I'm committed to building an events calendar where new faces are welcomed, not overlooked.
I work hard, I hustle, and I care deeply about this community. Give me this role and I'll make every event something people talk about for years.
Hi everybody, I'm Sarp. I’m running for Head of Events because electronic music isn’t just something I listen to, it’s something I actively live. I’m a DJ myself, so I understand both sides of the booth: what makes a lineup exciting and what makes a crowd actually stay till the last track. I’ve built strong connections with other DJs, which means we can bring in fresh sounds, different styles, and people who genuinely elevate the vibe. I am also studying a management course, which means that I have the necessary skills to organize and run a diverse range of events.
I want our events to feel special, not just “a night out,” but nights people actually remember. Bigger energy, diverse lineups, and proper community feel. Let’s make EMS the place people think of first when they think of their memorable nights at UCL.
Over the past year I’ve been a regular at EMS events and have really enjoyed the atmosphere the committee creates. The nights are welcoming, energetic, and a great way for people to connect through music. Seeing the work that goes into organising them has made me want to get involved and help push things even further.
As Head of Events, I’d aim to expand and strengthen the EMS community by organising nights that are exciting, inclusive, and worth showing up for. I’m very involved in the scene myself as I go to raves regularly and follow a wide range of electronic music, especially techno, as well as drum & bass, garage, jungle, and house. I also love putting people onto new artists and sounds they might not have discovered otherwise.
Also, being a close friend of DJ Valentine has allowed me to develop my love for the society, I hear about all the process and it really intrigues me into wanting to join the committee
Some things I’d focus on include:
- Building strong relationships with venues to secure great spaces for events
- Creating varied lineups that represent the diversity of electronic music
- Supporting student DJs and producers through community-driven events
- Organising creative nights and collaborations with other societies
- Growing the EMS community by making events welcoming and accessible
Ultimately, I want EMS events to be nights people genuinely look forward to: a place to discover new music, meet new people, and feel part of the electronic music community.
Hi everyone, I'm Charlie and I'm currently a first year Computer Science student. Many of you might know me already as the current Head of DJs, where I'm organising and teaching lessons to you guys weekly. I've been a huge fan of electronic and dance music for a long time, having DJ'd for almost 3 years and more recently starting producing. I've been super involved in EMS over the past few months, and I can confidently say, along with many others, that this is my favourite society. Both the incredible events being run, especially the most recent at Electrowerkz, and the plethora of other creative opportunities genuinely make it one of the best society's at UCL.
I'm running for Head of Events because I want to contribute back to EMS, and to continue growing our society both in UCL and amongst the London music scene. For next year, I'm looking to provide more student DJ's with opportunities to play at our events, which will involve increasing both the frequency and size of them. Outside of our club events, I'm also interested in creating more consistent socials and open deck events, as I think they're a great opportunity to bond our community and build new connections in a slightly more relaxed environment. Super looking forward to another year of EMS, and I'd be honoured to receive the opportunity of becoming your Head of Events in the new year.
Best, Charlie.
If we haven’t met already I’m Guillaume, an MPharm student and I’ve decided to run to be president a second year in a row! A bit about me - I love cooking, gyming, running and I also DJ a lot outside of university!
Besides studying and other extracurriculars, my life basically revolves around electronic music. I’ve met some of my closest friends thanks to the society and made some memories I don’t think I’ll ever forget.
My plans are similar to what they were last year; expand the society further, hold more socials / club takeovers to try bring members of the society closer together.
Over the past year I’m really pleased with how things have gone, we’ve collaborated with other universities and with external promoters.
However this upcoming year I’d like to achieve a couple new things, focus more on the music production side of the society by increasing the amount of sessions, collaborate more with the uni radio (Rare FM) on events/socials and organise more DJ lessons/workshops as there has been quite high demand for it this year! Finally I’d also like to have more frequent social events - like group record shopping or doing socials in pubs outside of uni.
I’d be honoured to have your vote and look forward to meeting everyone on the commitee next year!
