I’m running for Tech Officer because I’m passionate about capturing the talent, energy and community that makes Dance Society so special. Every show, rehearsal and TranscenDance performance is filled with moments that deserve to be preserved—small details, big emotions, and the creativity that our dancers put into their work. Also specifically for me, it is hard for my family to come watch the shows that we all put so much effort and care in, so the YouTube channel is a chance for them to view the passion and love we have for dance. Therefore, I would carry this intention on with me into this Committee role.
Being on the Creative Arts and Humanities course at UCL, I would say that I am very confident in handling technical equipment, as well as having strong skill sets and knowledge in filming and editing videos together. I am reliable, organised and always prepared, which means arriving early to set up, checking equipment thoroughly and ensuring every event I film is recorded clearly and professionally. Having my own YouTube channel myself for short films, I take pride in producing clean, polished videos, so that dancers can watch back their work at its best, whilst also creating promotional content that showcases Dance Society’s spirit and enthusiasm that makes this society so much more special and lively.
Hi my name is Sade, I am a second year Creative arts and humanities student. Being part of the committee this year has been one of the most rewarding parts of my time at UCL, and with my final academic year coming up, I would love the opportunity to stay deeply involved in the society for one more year as Tech Officer.
Creativity and making things has always been central to how I work. As a creative arts and humanities student I think I ave a lot of capabilities for this role. and I believe this role leaves a lot of room to explore that. Beyond filming dance videos and ensuring dancers are shown in the best possible light, I would love to expand the society’s visual presence through more promotional and creative content. This could include concept videos, dance visuals, and other media that capture the personality and energy of UCL Dance. This year I filmed and edited the TD concept video and I think that showcases my ability.
I also bring a strong technical background to the role. My course not only teaches filming and editing skills but also gives me access to filming equipment that could help produce high-quality content for the society. Alongside this, I produce and make music myself, so I would also be happy to help edit music for shows or support dancers who might not feel confident working with audio software.
Overall, I see the Tech Officer role as a creative opportunity to document, promote, and celebrate the work of the society, and I would love to contribute to that.
Hi I’m Anjola, I think I would make a good tech officer because for my media level media coursework I had to create a music video, as a one woman crew, this gave me several skills that I think are very applicable to this role such as setting up filming equipment cameras, tripods, speakers. Producing and organizing a production. Editing large amounts of footage including colour grading and cutting audio. I also freelance edit a lot of my friends' YouTube videos meaning I'm more than aware of the problems of YouTube copyright detection and ways to get around it. I’m also aware that as a committee member I would have to produce one of the shows which I’m more than comfortable doing I know its slightly different but as a prefect in my old school I had to direct and produce both our house singing and house drama which was for a group of 70 teenage girls (wouldn’t recommend) but it gave me transferable skills such as organization, clear communication and time management especially under pressure. Also being part of a few shows this year has taught me a lot about what goes into running them, helping out backstage with transcendance was a very stressful but rewarding task. As for time management, balancing my workload, rehearsals, social life and other commitments this past year has taught me a lot about making a schedule and sticking to it if you need proof my colour coded google calendar is readily available.
Hey everyone!
I’m so excited to apply for the Tech Officer role at UCL’s Dance Society!!
My strong background in product design and art gives me a solid technical and creative foundation for managing our gear and making our videos look professional. I’m used to dealing with intricate tech like cameras, and I will take the initiative where needed to learn more to make videos and promotional trailers as stunning as possible.
With my eye for detail from my art days, I’ll handle the colour grading and sharpening so our dancers look their best in the YouTube vids. I’ve managed many large-scale projects as Deputy Head Girl in secondary school, so I’ll get those YouTube uploads, playlists, and trailers live ASAP.
I’m also used to high-pressure environments from my time as a competitive swimmer and long-term dancer - you can count on me to arrive early at show venues to get the cameras, tripods, and speakers perfectly synced. I'm eager to bring my skills to the table to ensure every show is documented perfectly. I’ll bring that same energy to our promotional trailers, making sure the Dance Society’s talent is front and centre!
