Hii everyone, my name is Giverny, a first-year nutrition and medical sciences student and I’m running for Scheduling Officer!
Having spent countless hours in and out of rehearsals myself, I truly understand the importance of having good rooms to dance in. As scheduling officer, I’m committed to booking the best rooms for all Dance Soc events, from rehearsals to shows. I will actively fight for rooms with mirrors and wooden floors to ensure everyone has a comfortable environment suited for their styles to dance in.
I’m also experienced in using Google sheets and Google calendar to keep my everyday life organised, from managing my schedule to budgeting. This means I am ready to manage the society’s calendar, keeping it up to date and avoid clashes between events.
Plus, I’m also reliable and responsive. If you know me, you’ll know that I’m chronically online :) and will read and respond to messages almost instantly. So whether it’s a last minute room booking request or a quick question, I’ll be able to respond quickly and effectively to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Let's get all the good rooms!!😉🫶🏻💕
Hello! I'm Sherry and I'm a first year physics student. I'm running to be your scheduling officer next year!
First thing's first, if anyone asks me how I've found uni so far, you can bet the first thing I'll say is how much I have enjoyed dance soc. It's given me a chance to make friends with so many like-minded people, learn new styles and choreograph for the first time. My proudest moment this year was seeing my piece performed! Next year I would be honoured to have the opportunity to get even more involved and help the amazing place that is dance soc keep running.
Scheduling officer is the perfect role for me because my idea of fun is legitimately spreadsheets and logistical problems like trying to get everyone a good room at the right time. I live for the satisfaction when everything falls into place. I also have way too much time on my hands as evidenced by my startling high attendance at dance soc so I will always be around to sort out room booking requests and constantly monitor the booking system for good rooms.
So please give me a job to do. Vote Sherry! :)
Hi everyone! I'm Maya, a first year physics undergrad, and I'm running to be your scheduling officer.
I've been dancing since I was 3 (#babyballet) and, while it's been a love hate relationship over the years, Dance soc has reminded me why I've stuck with it this long. I've met so many incredible people and made many good friends which is why I want to help run and grow this society.
I'm running for scheduling because I genuinely enjoyed my previous admin roles as deputy head of my sixth form. With experience in planning large scale events, I would love to produce a show where everyone's hard work comes together seamlessly.
As a chronic late night sleeper, I'll always be up to catch the room booking form right as it opens. I'm also rarely without my phone and, to my friends' annoyance, I actually keep my ringer on, no matter how irritating the sound is. If there are any last minute requests/problems I'm easily reachable.
I basically plan my life through my google calendar and I'm practically required to know my way around google sheets as a physics student, so I promise to keep our schedules as organised as can be.
Finally, I'm not afraid to fight for rooms when needed and we all know the struggles with SU... No more rooms with awkward pillars or security issues. I'll push my hardest to grab the spacious and hardwood floors (Punnett hall has my heart), whatever's best for each style.
Vote for me and I'll handle the stress of the spreadsheets so everyone can focus on the dancing!
As a member of the Dance Society for the past two years, I've been subject to every room for every kind of rehearsal imaginable. From the best rooms in IOE, to the worst rooms in buildings I never knew existed, I truly have the knowledge of where dancers rehearse and perform. As scheduling officer, I would do my absolute best to weigh the needs of each booking request with the rooms available; e.g trying to give ballet wood floors, giving large numbers a properly sized room. etc. As incredible as the past scheduling officers have been, I still believe there is room for improvement, so as scheduling officer I would communicate with other societies and request priority for rooms, work with UCL SU and reserve proper spaces for performances, and do all of this in a timely, organized fashion. I pride myself on my multitasking and organizational capacity, balancing a difficult major with 3 part-time jobs, choreographing and performing in almost every DanceSoc show, being part of other academic societies, and of course keeping a social life and staying active. I am very proud of the fact that this entire year, I did not miss a single rehearsal for any show! And I like to credit this to my ability to manage my time and schedule effectively, which is exactly what I would do as scheduling officer. This role is a chance to connect with all dancers, choreographers, directors, and teachers, showing my care for them by helping manage spaces and times in order to perform our absolute best.
I want to stand for Scheduling Officer because I’m organised and genuinely enjoy making things run smoothly behind the scenes. I know room bookings might seem like a small task, but in reality they’re essential to how well the society functions. And I’m really grateful for always having room for all the classes, rehearsal and shows I did this year, so I want to make some effort for people next year. Moreover, I like to keep organised and feel confident in using Excel to keep track of everything. Overall, I’d stand for Scheduling Officer because I’m happy to work behind the scenes to make sure everything runs efficiently for the society.
