Chloe Wong

Hey everyone, I’m Chloe and am running to be your competitions coordinator!

Comps have been my favourite part of the year, even when my knee decided to betray me meaning I didn’t end up dancing in them. I’ve loved every bit of the season, from bonding in rehearsals to travelling together & hyping everyone up, and I’m eager to take on a bigger role.

As Freshers Rep, I’ve been lucky enough to witness & help with some admin work that goes on behind the scenes for comps. Having balanced studies, dancing & committee duties this year, I am organised and would be able to keep up with the coordination of logistics like commuting & accommodation (fun times😝), whilst my interpersonal skills would come in handy for effective communication in liaising with other universities.

Having touched on various dance styles allows me to provide helpful feedback to help us bring our A-game ;) As I had to step back due to injuries this year, I understand how important dancer welfare & communication may be, and I’ll make sure teams feel supported throughout! Choreographing for multiple shows has given me experience in leadership which translates into my ability to oversee & manage our comp teams; and I know that I’ll be able to keep the vibes lit, having rigorously cheered this year & previously as a committee member for my competitive house in school.

I do feel deeply connected to our supportive community and would love to continue bringing everyone together next year – we in it to win it? 😛😛🏆

Sophia Nanthakumar

Hi everyone! I’m Sophia, the one behind UCL doing ballet to Todrick Hall across the country! Within dance soc, I’ve performed and choreographed in Freshers’ Show and Triple Bill but being part of the comps team for the last two years, as a dancer and choreographer, has been the most rewarding and unforgettable experience. After stepping behind the scenes with ballet this year, I would love to lead our next comps season as your Competitions Coordinator.

Having trained and competed since I was 10, I’m confident supporting choreographers across styles and helping pieces reach their full potential. As someone who also attends weekly classes, I’m excited to produce Spring Showcase and ensure it represents both comp team and class dancers. I’m organised, proactive and not afraid of a spreadsheet, so registrations, deadlines and travel plans (I love booking a good holiday!) will run smoothly. As a former cheerleader, I’ll also bring the energy - because trophies are great, but team spirit is what makes a season unforgettable (big shoutout to Bubbles here!).

I plan to elevate the comps experience with an official @bubblesthehippo Instagram account to post BTS moments from comps and rehearsals, a Comps Taster before auditions to give new dancers a taste into the comps world, and creative DIY costumes to maximise our budget and team bonding.

From costumes to competitions, backstage chaos to trophies, next season will run smoothly and serve exactly what’s on the menu!!

Chelsea Cheng

I am standing for Competition Coordinator because dance has been my life since the age of two. From my first inter-school competition to international stage, I know what a dancer takes to succeed.

Placing 3rd at Get the Beat International Competition in Australia, I know the pressure, excitement and logistics of competing at high levels. With my experience in inter-school competition since primary allow me to understand rehearsal timelines, readiness and judges’ preference. I am confident in leading and support the team throughout the comps.

As School Dance Team Captain during my senior years, I led rehearsals, liaised with various parties and pushed through the lows. I will apply these experiences to manage our 70-member comp team, leading audition, allocating parts and checking in on welfare throughout the comp season.

Participation in Boarding, Events and Diversity Committees has shaped my ability to coordinate complex logistics. I am confident in researching comp, communicating with other universities, and organising travel and accommodation efficiently. Work closely with the Treasurer on budgets comes natural to me after managing serval committee finances.

As Head of International Student and Academic Representative, I learnt to handle unexpected issues calmly and collectively. I am willing to be the first point of contact for competition-related concerns, keeping the team focused without concerns.

I am Chelsea Cheng. Vote for me as your Competition Coordinator
